Unveiling ceremony of the relief of Swethoslav Roerich at the Roerich Street

Relief of Swethoslav Roerich was officially released on 26 July  in the premises  of the Russian Cultural Centre by the well known artist and movie art  director Mr.Radhakrihnan. The monument to the great artist and philosopher who loved India was unveiled at the Roerich Road.

The visiting members of the Cultural group from Ulyanosk region and the Russian Nationals staying in Kerala witnessed this unique function with great pleasure. They offered flowers to the monument to Roerich. .

In 2004 Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram Council passed a resolution to name the road adjacent to the Russian Cultural Centre after the Great friend of India Swethoslav Roerich. In  August 2004 former Prime Minister of India Mr.I.K.Gujaral officially opened the Roerich Road.

The then Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Prof.Chandra, Head of the Cultural Department of the Russian Embassy Mr.Fyodor Rozovskiy etc. were present.

This is the only road in the capital of Kerala state which is named after a foreigner.
