The first round of planning consultations for the Russian-Indian anti-terrorist drills Indra-2016 will take place in April in Russia’s Vladivostok, the head of the Russian Eastern Military District's (EMD) press service said Wednesday. Earlier reports suggested that the consultations between representatives of the EMD and the Indian Armed Forces would be held in February.

"At the first planning conference in Vladivostok (Primorsky Territory), the Eastern Military District's representatives and the Armed Forces of India will discuss issues relating to the scenario, schedule and area of the future exercise, the makeup of the forces and means involved, the order of border and customs procedures, the organization of the march of the Indian Armed Forces units to the area where the drills [will be held]," Alexander Gordeev told reporters.

The Indra-2016 drills will be held on an Eastern Military District training ground in the Primorsky Territory in the Russian Far East, he specified.

A previous round of joint military drills on countering international terrorism took place in India on November 7-20, 2015, where the scenario was counterterrorism operations in desert terrain under a UN mandate.
