With celebrities like Amaan, Ayaan Ali Khan, Samar Singh Jodha on the ramp, ace designer JJ Valaya unveiled his Indo-Russia inspired autumn-winter line at the Amazon India Fashion Week.
Titled "Bolshoi Bazaar", the collection was an amalgamation of Indian and Russian culture and sensibilities.
"This year's collection traverses the large extent of Russian boundaries and finds inspiration from various regions and disciples, including the jewels of the czars, ikats of the nomadic Russia, the Onion domes of Moscow, Russian Kerchiefs and pre-rebellion architecture," Valaya told reporters after the show.
The collection which saw models walk the ramp dressed in silhouettes like capes, sarees, dresses, skirts, jackets and anarkalis teamed with churidaars was modern yet distinctly Indian.
Fabrics like crepes, volis, georgettes were used in the garments along with techniques ranging from digital printing, applique and typical Valaya embroideries to create a perfect blend of the past and contemporary style.
When asked about the special people from different fields like music, sports, visual arts, on the ramp, Valaya said, "They are all friends. They are all achievers. They excel in their respective fields. It was nice to have them here today for the show."
The show also saw the launch of Kindle Voyage.
