In the distant Middle Ages Leonardo da Vinci despite being a great painter, sculptor, and scientist, proudly referred to himself as an engineer. In a talk with the correspondent, the sweet and delicate-looking 3rd year student of the Faculty of Engineering, Salini Menon, assured that she has an aptitude for engineering.
Profession of engineering has always been in demand. Most often, men used to pursue this profession, for it is considered that technical thinking is inherent to men. But, the correspondent of the Voice of Russia, Elena Gaiduk was made to deter from this perception. She visited the Faculty of Engineering of the People's Friendship University, where many internationally known engineers have studied at different times. It turned out that there are a lot of girls among the students. In a talk with the correspondent, the sweet and delicate-looking 3rd year student of the Faculty of Engineering, Salini Menon, assured that she has an aptitude for engineering. She says:
“I always wanted to have a university degree in the field of automation and technology, to study internal combustion engines, that is to say to become a "doctor" for the engines. There are many types of engineers; such as: mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, civil engineer, environmental engineer and many others. I want to become an expert on engines. There are many reasons for my choosing this profession. I've always been more inclined to technical sciences than to the humanities. Despite the fact that to work as an engineer is not easy, I'm sure that I can cope with all the difficulties, because I love this profession. I know that thank to my qualities- interest in technology, technical observation, technical thinking, spatial imagination-, which correspond to this profession, I will never be bored at work.
It must be admitted that my choice to a greater extent was influenced by my uncle. He, himself being an engineering graduate from the PFUR, advised me to study for higher education at the PFUR. To study here is not easy, but it is very interesting. Each day we discover something new. Without our teachers, many of whom are distinguished inventors, scientists and professors of the Russian Federation, I would not have been able to get a broad view of my future profession and to apply that knowledge in practice. I was very lucky to have made new friends and received their support, help and advice during my studies. It is very important.
My profession has a future and that is the reason why I chose it. Now a days you can see "overdose" of economists and managers. To get a job for such professionals has become more difficult. In contrast, engineers find jobs much easily and their salary is higher. For any young professional, it is important to know that work is ensured in future. I think it is important to have financial independence. So the future belongs to engineers!
I plan to do post- graduation from India, and then, hopefully, I will be able to work on large international projects. Engineering is closely linked with the economy of the country: the more developed a country is, the more engineers it needs.”
We attended a concert "Rhythms of India” in the evening, after the classes. My new friend, Salini Menon, along with other students also took part in it. She sang beautifully and danced Indian folk dance.
