On April 6, Minsk will host a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.

The meeting’s agenda includes 13 subjects encompassing a wide range of intra-CIS cooperation projects. The ministers will exchange opinions on topical international and regional affairs. They will touch upon matters of strengthening foreign policy coordination and prospects for more profound law-enforcement, cultural-humanitarian and military cooperation. Meeting participants will approve a number of documents that will be submitted to the CIS Councils of Heads of State and Government for consideration this year.

Those at the meeting are to hear reports on the implementation of the 2017 plan of multi-level intra-CIS consultations between national foreign ministries, and they will approve a similar plan for 2018.

As usual, members of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will discuss law-enforcement cooperation. Participants in the upcoming meeting are to approve a draft cooperation agreement to fight IT crimes and the interstate programme of joint anti-crime efforts for 2019-2023. Both documents will be submitted to CIS heads of state for signing on September 28, 2018, in Dushanbe.

There are plans to sign a document on establishing a specialised agency that will train and retrain employees of CIS tax and financial investigation task forces and ensure their professional improvement.

CIS Foreign Ministers will review a draft decision on amending as well as augmenting the Regulations of the Anti-Terrorist Centre for the purpose of ensuring its more efficient performance.

Some of the Council’s decisions aim to expand cultural-humanitarian cooperation, including the launching of the international youth project 100 Ideas for the CIS, drafting the Regulations of the Congress of CIS Teachers’ and Educators and on declaring 2021 the Year of Architecture and Urban Development in the CIS.

The meeting’s agenda also includes the subject of military-cooperation, such as amending various provisions regulating the activities of the CIS Council of Defence Ministers and its Secretariat.
