Prime Minister Vladimir Putin took to the wheel of a Formula One racecar in the Leningrad Region, driving at speeds of up to 240km/h (149 mph).
Before getting into the driving seat, some of Formula One’s leading lights gave him detailed instructions on how to drive the car, explaining its key features.
Putin donned a helmet bearing the Russian coat of arms and the word “Russia” and a  personalized driving suit. The bright yellow racecar was reminiscent of the Lada Kalina that the prime minister drove for over 2,000 km (1,243 miles) from Chita to Khabarovsk down the new Amur Highway in Russia’s Far East.
