Comment by the Information and Press Department on the terrorist act against a gathering of faith activists in Kabul

Wednesday, 06 June 2018 23:52

On June 4, a suicide bomber committed an act of terrorism against Muslim faith activists who were taking part in a meeting of the Ulema Council in Kabul, killing at least 14 people.

Responsibility for the terrorist act was assumed by ISIS, who, in so doing, are seeking to intimidate the influential clergy and take revenge on them for their decision stating that terrorism is unacceptable under the canons of Islam.

We  condemn the terrorists’ barbaric attack and condole with the families of those killed and hope that the injured recover as soon as possible. We call on Afghanistan’s authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure public safety in the country.

The terrorist act in Kabul has confirmed again that the entire global community needs to be resolute in its fight against international terrorism, which has become more violent in Afghanistan in recent years.
