Press release on the outcome of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting

On September 20, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), held on the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York.

The SCO foreign ministers reviewed priority goals as well as initiatives related to stepping up political, security, economic and humanitarian cooperation, taking into account India’s and Pakistan’s accession to the organisation.

They reaffirmed the commitment by SCO member states to make effective use of the organisation’s enhanced capabilities for strengthening stability and security, ensuring sustainable economic growth and deepening regional and international humanitarian cooperation.
