Moscow will host a new round of talks on Syrian reconciliation on April 6-9, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
According to a statement posted on the Ministry's website, a group of Russian diplomats and experts visited Damascus and met with Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad and other government officials on March 21-22.
"Syrian government officials acknowledged the efforts made by Moscow to settle conflict in Syria and confirmed its commitment to constructive participation in talks hosted by Moscow," the statement said.
The Syrian government officials and about 30 representatives of opposition groups held four-day talks in January mediated by Moscow. During the talks, the sides agreed the so called "Moscow principles" which stipulate elaboration of the political platform of the national agreement. The Syrian government officials have supported Russian initiative to hold a second round of Syria talks.
