Press release on the meeting of the leaders of the Government Commission on the Affairs of Compatriots Abroad with members of the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots

On May 22, the Foreign Ministry mansion hosted a traditional annual meeting of the leaders of the Government Commission on the Affairs of Compatriots Abroad (GCACA) with members of the World Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots (WCC). 

During the gathering State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister and GCACA Deputy Chairman Grigory Karasin thanked WCC members for helping to carry out the presidential elections abroad, and for contributing to the organisation and participation in the celebrations of the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, primarily, the Immortal Regiment march.

The event was devoted to the most pressing matters that concern Russian compatriots abroad. The participants paid special attention to the need to protect the rights and lawful interests of compatriots, develop their versatile cooperation with the historic homeland, promote further the youth movement, consolidate the positions of the Russian language abroad, and step up efforts to preserve Russian history and culture.

They also discussed preparations for the 6th World Congress of Compatriots Living Abroad to be held in Moscow on October 31-November 1, 2018 and the further upgrading of the activities of the WCC.
