Press release on a meeting of the five nuclear states

On April 24, the UN office in Geneva hosted a meeting of the five nuclear states  at the level of directors of their foreign ministries’ respective departments on the sidelines of the second session of the Preparatory Committee for the 2020 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT Review Conference).

The diplomats discussed the issues on the agenda of the NPT Review Conference, including strategic stability. The meeting was coordinated by the Russian Federation.

The representatives of the five nuclear states will continue their dialogue. China will assume the coordinating functions in May.
