Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin’s meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

On June 25 in New York, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as a follow up on his previous consultations with the Russian leadership; the meeting featured a thorough exchange of views on key matters concerning world politics.

The Russian side expressed support for Antonio Guterres’s activities and the central role of the UN as a unique multilateral platform in the light of coordinating decisions on important current affairs of our time. Vershinin informed the Secretary-General of the efforts made by the Russian Federation to resolve crisis situations in Syria and other countries of the Middle East, noting that there is no alternative to collective coordinated work under the aegis of the United Nations to improve international relations and overcome pressing military and political challenges.
