Briefing by Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (May 29, 2018)

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides continues working on peaceful settlement of the conflict and providing comprehensive assistance to people in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Despite ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, the Russian-Iranian-Turkish Joint Coordination Centre has registered some cases of ceasefire violation by illegal armed formations in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Daraa.

Situation in the southern suburbs of Damascus is being stabilized; people are returning to peaceful life.

The Syrian engineers are clearing up liberated regions of the Yarmouk former Palestinian refugee camp.

They have checked 26 buildings to defuse 12 mines, 19 HE projectiles, and 47 improvised explosive devices.

Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation have been monitoring reconstruction process in the settlement of Modiara, Misraba and Bait-Sawa to define scope of reconstruction works.

Measures are being taken by Syrian government jointly with the Russian side to stabilize post-conflict situation in the provinces of Homs and Hama.

Road services are working to recover driveway and bridge the al-Rastan-Talbiseh section of the M5 highway.

The Post-Conflict Settlements Centres are functioning in the Homs de-escalation zone. Over the past 24 hours, 2,025 people have been granted amnesty. In total since 16 May, 24,009 people have passed this proceeding. They have surrendered 4,078.

Russian military police organized observation posts in the settlements of al-Rastan, Kafer-Lakha, Talbiseh, Zaafarana, Kharet-Tukman and al-Hula to prevent provocations and illegal actions.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation is above all focused to improve humanitarian situation, provide medical aid to the people in need and meet priority needs of people in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Over the last 24 hours, the Russian Centre carried out a humanitarian action in the Taufin Alabi School, the city of Aleppo. The Russian servicemen deployed a field kitchen to provide people with more than 300 portions of hot meals and more than a ton of fresh-baked bread.

Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to more than 63 people, including 46 children.

The Syrian government is cooperating with the Russian Centre for Reconciliation to create conditions so that people to return back to their homes.

Over the past day, 184 people have returned to Homs province, and 119 people – to the Eastern Ghouta.
