The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides continues working on peaceful settlement of the conflict and stabilizing humanitarian situation in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Russian-Iranian-Turkish Joint Coordination Centre has registered some cases of ceasefire violation by illegal armed formations in the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Damasucs and Daraa.

On May 16, militants carried out a mortar attack from the Khadjar-al-Aswad quarter against the Viktoriya Bridge, the district of al-Marj. Two people died, 18 civilians have been wounded.

The Russian side jointly with the Syrian government is taking measures to stabilize situation in Damascus province.

Six houses were cleared up in the settlement of Rukheiba. Four improvised explosive devices were found and defused.

Living houses are being cleared up from mines and ammo in the city of Douma. Streets are being cleared from rubbles by special equipment; housing and utilities infrastructure is being restored. Over the last 24 hours, 17 houses and their territories have been cleared up. In total, 29 explosive devices have been defused.

In total, since the government regained control over the Eastern Ghouta, 22 square km have been cleared up.

Due to comprehensive support 65,562 citizens of the Eastern Ghouta have returned to their homes from camps for refugees and temporary displaced persons.

Measures are being taken to stabilize situation in southern suburbs of Damascus.

Law enforcement bodies of the Syrian Arab Republic and units of the Russian military police are cooperating to prevent provocations and ensure the safety of civilians in the settlements of Yalda, Babilla and Bayt-Sahm.

The Russian side conducts humanitarian events in other regions of Syria as well.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation and Russian military police are completing withdrawal of militants with their families from the Homs de-escalation zone. In the period of May 7-15, 35,270 militants with families have passed through humanitarian corridors with the check point near al-Rastan, al-Kantara-Shimali and Talbiseh.

Law enforcement bodies of the Syrian Arab Republic have started operating in al-Rastan, Talbiseh, Aydum, Burayqid and Dallaq since the Homs de-escalation zone was liberated from illegal armed formations

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation is above all focused on stabilizing the humanitarian situation, providing medical assistance to the people in need and meeting the priority needs of citizens.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation held a humanitarian action in Damascus. Pupils of the al-Mazraa School received 100 gift sets, sanitary sets and sports clothes. The total weight of cargo amounted to a ton.

People of Khmeimim-al-Qabirah, Aleppo province, and the Aqramiyah district, the city of Aleppo, received more than a ton of fresh-baked bread.

Russian military medics provided medical assistance to 38 Syrians, including 28 children.

The reconstruction of the destroyed social infrastructure and the establishment of peaceful life in the Syrian provinces enable people to return back to their former homes.

Over the past day, 221 people have returned to Homs province, and 103 – to the Eastern Ghouta.

The Russian Centre is registering the number of citizens leaving Tell Rifaat de-escalation zone for Membij, Aleppo province. Over the last 24 hours, 302 people with personal properties have left the area.
