Thursday, 08 March 2018 10:52

The Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides continues settling the conflict and normalizing humanitarian situation in the Syrian Arab Republic in course of implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2401.

In total, ceasefire regime is observed and situation is being stabilized.

Temporary displaced persons are making their way back home. Over the last 24 hours, 483 civilians have returned from the Idlib de-escalation zone to Abu al-Dukhur, Aleppo province, through the humanitarian corridor in Tell Sultan.

Recovery of the province of Deir ez-Zor is continued. Over the last 24 hours, 373 people have returned to their homes on eastern coast of Euphrates.

Situation in the Eastern Ghouta remains in tense. Yesterday, insurgents shelled against living quarters of Damascus and suburbs. They fire eight mines and wounded nine people.

Despite complicated situation, the Russian Reconciliation Centre continues humanitarian operation in the Eastern Ghouta under support of the Syrian government.

The 10th humanitarian pause was established from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The humanitarian corridor is open not only for civilians but also for insurgents and their families. The Russian Reconciliation Centre guarantees their security, and ready to provide transport and safety through the route.

The Russian Centre continues informing the Eastern Ghouta population through all channels about safety moving through the humanitarian corridor.

The Russian Centre’s hotline continues receiving appeals of civilians about their readiness for leaving the Eastern Ghouta. People are making appeals concerning disastrous conditions.

The Russian Centre considers that about 1,500 citizens of Jisrein, Hammuriyah, Saqba, Kafr Batna, and Khaze are ready to leave the area.

However, leaders of insurgents are taking all efforts to let nobody escape from the Eastern Ghouta.

Today, the Syrian government has opened additional checkpoint Mlekha-Jisrein.

While civilians were passing through the checkpoint, insurgents of Failaq al-Rahman attacked them. Three automobiles have been burnt. There are wounded and killed.

At 5 p.m. they carried out mortar shelling against the checkpoint.

Illegal armed groups increased their repressive activities and intensified shelling against the checkpoint located in Muhayam al-Waffedin. They are firing not only during humanitarian pauses. No civilians could leave the zone.

Due to intensified shelling against the government troops and the humanitarian corridor by Jabhat al-Nusra insurgents, international humanitarian organizations took decision to postpone a humanitarian convoy to Duma, which had been planned to be delivered on March 8. Humanitarian assistance to citizens of the Eastern Ghouta will be continued after stabilization of the situation.

The Russian Centre demands letting all people leave the Eastern Ghouta as well as stopping violence against civilians, and using them as human shields.

Normalization of humanitarian situation in Syria as well as providing medical of medical assistance to civilians are the priority tasks of the Russian Reconciliation Centre.

Over the last 24 hours, representatives of the Russian Reconciliation Centre have provided security to the UN, International Red Cross Committee, and Syrian Arab Red Crescent humanitarian convoy.

Citizens of Tell Shihab, Daraa province, have received 123 tons of food and household supplies.

Citizens of Marrat, Deir ez-Zor province, have received drinking water.
