Despite the humanitarian pauses established on the intiative of the Russian side pursuant to the UN Security Counсil Resolution 2401, illegal armed formations in the Eastern Ghouta intensify shelling attacks against Damascus and humanitarian corridor of Muhayam al-Waafedin.

Tiday, at 10 a.m., terrorists attacked the Tishrin hospital from mortars in the settlement of Dahiyat al-Asad. Terrorists attacked from Douma, territory controlled by the Jaysh al-Islam. Some 10 Syrian servicemen and civilians lost their lives in the attack.

Terroists do not let the residents of the Eastern Ghouta leave the area and use them as human shield.

Terrorists deliberately intimidate civilians and threaten with death penalty for leaving the Eastern Ghouta. Insurgents seize food and medical supplies and drinking water. All the medical staff left in the Eastern Ghouta is forced to provide aid for terrorists alone.

As part of implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution, the Russian Centre for Reconciliation has ensured safe passage of a humanitarian convoy sent by the international organizations to the settlement of Douma, carrying 247 tons of cargo.

Illegal armed formations detained the convoy for two hours and tried to undermine the humanitarian operation.

At 17 p.m. the Jabhat al-Nusra carried out a mortar attack against the humanitarian convoy from the area of Ayn-Arbah spring, eastern vicinity of Madiara.

Humanitarian personnel were not injured in the attack.

The convoy reached the delivery point.

The Russian Reconciliation Centre urges all representatives of illegal armed formations in the Eastern Ghouta to provide safety exit to civilians from controlled areas.

If the insurgents do not want to let civilians leave the controlled regions, the Russian Centre is ready to guarantee them and their families safe exit from the Eastern Ghouta.

The Russian Centre provides transport and security along the route.

The Russian Reconciliation Centre guarantees the integrity of all insurgents and their family members, who had decided to leave Eastern Ghouta.

The Russian party urges leaders of illegal armed formations to do everything possible to relieve civilians’ suffering and provide access of humanitarian assistance to the Eastern Ghouta.
