Briefing by Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (August 29, 2018)

Peaceful settlement of the conflict and rendering of comprehensive assistance are the main vectors of work in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation held a humanitarian action in the settlement of Umm-al-Maaten, Daraa province. Civilians received 250 sets of food products with the total weight 1.1 tons. Twenty-three people including six children received medical aid.

People in need received more than a ton of fresh-baked bread in Jamaiya-Tishrin district in the city of Aleppo.

In total, since the Russian Centre for Reconciliation started settlement process, it carried out 1,910 humanitarian actions. The total weight of humanitarian cargo delivered amounts to 2,945.91

Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation checked the availability of medication and quality of medical care provided in the village of Hatlah (the province of Deir ez-Zor). Six Syrians including four children were provided with medical aid, baby food, vitamins, antibiotics and dressing material.

Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to 67 people, including 34 children over the past day.

Former insurgents in southwest of the Syrian Arab Republic surrendered  198 pieces of small arms and 800 kilograms of ammunition of various types and calibers.

Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, there have been still cases of ceasefire regime violation by illegal armed formations in the Idlib de-escalation zone over the past week. Over the past day there have been shelling attacks against Jubb-al-Mgara, Sandran, Ein-al-Qantara, Nahshabba (two times), Ikko (four times), Jebb-al-Zarour (two times), Mamuhiyah, Latakia province, Ziyara, Tel-Maled, Zahr-al-Jaya (two times), Maraanaz, Tal-Alush, Ngavla, Aleppo province, and Masasna, Hama province.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides urges leaders of illegal armed formations operating  in the Idlib de-escalation zone to cease hostilities and move towards peaceful settlement of the situation in areas they occupy.
