Briefing by Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (June 18, 2018)

Peaceful settlement of conflict and providing comprehensive assistance to the people are the most topical tasks for settlement of the crisis in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, the Russian-Iranian-Turkish Joint Coordination Centre has registered some cases of ceasefire violation by illegal armed formations in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama and Daraa.

Measures are being taken by the Russian side and Syrian government to improve humanitarian situation in Damascus and its suburbs.

Syrian engineers trained by Russian specialists are ensuring security for people and social-economic infrastructure. Over the last 24 hours, they have checked 30 buildings in Yarmouk, the former Palestinian refugee camp, suburbs of Damascus. They defused four and seven HE projectiles, and eight improvised explosive devices.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation has monitored situation in the settlement of al-Rihan, Damascus province, to control reconstruction process of social infrastructure. They also carried out a survey among civilians who had been displaced due to impossibility of living in the area.

Local authorities jointly with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organize regular delivery of food supplies and drinking water to the residents of the settlement. The Russian Centre for Reconciliation assists to provide people with quality medical care, organize evacuation of severely ill patients to medical centers of Damascus.

They also checked availability of medical supplies and quality of medical aid provided to the people in Mazlum, Deir ez-Zor province.

Due to taken measures, 69,353 people of Eastern Ghouta have returned back to their homes from refugee and IDPs camps.

The Russian side jointly with Syrian government is working on post-conflict settlements in Hama and Homs provinces.

Russian military police organizes day-time observation posts in the settlements of Kharet-Tukman, Talbiseh and al-Rastan to prevent provocations.

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation is above all focused on improvement of humanitarian situation, providing medical aid, and meeting the priority needs of people in need.

The Russian Centre carried out a charitable action in Sheikh al-Bakur district, Aleppo city. People received food sets and more than a ton of fresh-baked bread

Humanitarian situation is being stabilized in other parts of Syria as well.

Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to 24 people, including 12 children.

Over the past day, 168 people have returned to Homs province, and 116 people to the Eastern Ghouta.
