Briefing by Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (June 10, 2018)

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides continues working on peaceful settlement of the conflict and providing comprehensive assistance to Syrian citizens.

Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, illegal armed formations breach ceasefire regime in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia and Daraa.

Measures are being taken by Syrian government jointly with the Russian side to stabilize post-conflict situation in the Damascus province.

Engineering units of the Syrian Army trained by Russian specialists successfully performed tasks. In the settlements of Eastern Ghouta and Eastern Qalamoun, the Syrian engineers have checked 25 buildings to defuse two mines, five projectiles and 16 improvised explosive devices.

Representatives of the Centre for Reconciliation monitored the situation in Hazza, to define the scope of reconstruction of infrastructure. A bakery functions in the town, two schools have been reconstructed. A medical center have been restored by a student union. Local authorities jointly with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organize delivery of baby foods and drinking water. People are provided with medical and psychological assistance.

Due to improving humanitarian situation, 68,443 people have returned home in the Eastern Ghouta from refugee and IDP camps.

Measures are being taken by Syrian government jointly with the Russian side to stabilize post-conflict situation in the provinces of Hama and Homs.

High-voltage power transmission lines have been overhauled in Zaafarana, Dayr Fuli and Izzedin, the province of Homs, by Syrian specialists.

Russian military police organizes observation posts in Kharet-Tukman, Talbisah and Al-Rastan to prevent provocations and other illegal actions.

Representatives of the Centre for Reconciliation held a working meeting with the leadership of commission for normalization in Homs. During the meeting, the sides discussed a process of granting amnesty  declared by the Syrian security forces for Syrian citizens who decided to use it and return to peaceful life.

The Russian Centre carried out charitable actions in the Asada Mosque and the Abdurrahman Al-Khattab School of Aleppo to improve the humanitarian situation. At the end of the Ramadan fasting day, the Russian servicemen deployed field kitchens to provide people with hot meals and about a ton of bread.

The Russian Centre carried out humanitarian action in Mayadin, the province of  Deir ez-Zor, and Nashabiyah, the Damascus province. People received 950 food sets, 500 medical supplies and the bare necessities and 750 liters of bottled water. Total weight has reached eight tons.

Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to more than 123 people, including 89 children.

Recovering of social infrastructure and establishment of peaceful life enables people to return back to their homes.

Over the past day, 224 people have returned to Homs province, and 114 people – to the Eastern Ghouta.

Measures taken by Russia, Turkey and Iran stabilize situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone; civilians return back to their homes in Aleppo province. Over the past day, 26 people with private properties have passed through the Tal-Sultan – Abu al-Duhur humanitarian corridor. Since March 4, in total 15,744 people and 3,317 pieces of equipment have passed through the humanitarian corridor.
