Press release on forming the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva

Tuesday, 29 May 2018 14:25

According to reports, Syrian representatives in Geneva submitted to UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura a list of the government’s candidates for the Constitutional Committee on May 28.

Moscow praises and welcomes this step by the leaders of the Syrian Arab Republic which meets the interests of finding political solutions to overcome the crisis in that country by following the recommendations of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi.

We expect representatives of the Syrian opposition as well as the countries that have influence on it to show a constructive approach and to display by practical steps their readiness to further work on promoting the political dialogue without preconditions as specified in UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
