Press release on Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov’s participation in the SCO - Afghanistan Contact Group meeting

On May 28, Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov attended a meeting of SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group at the deputy foreign minister level in Beijing.

The participants held an in-depth exchange of views on the development of practical cooperation between the SCO member states and Afghanistan in light of current developments in that country, and discussed ways to ensure security and to combat terrorism, drug trafficking and organised cross-border crime in the region.

The deputy foreign ministers unanimously reaffirmed their countries’ readiness to promote interaction within the Contact Group on the basis of the relevant Protocol, which sets out the priorities and modalities of this consultative body’s work.
