The President suggested that Mr Rogozin head the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Rogozin, we discussed issues related to Roscosmos development many times: how important it is for the economy and for many other areas, including security. There is no need to go over that again; it goes without saying.

You have already reported your proposals on strengthening and developing this company. We have discussed it many times. You have a remarkable opportunity to start implementing the development plans you proposed as the head of Roscosmos.

Dmitry Rogozin: Mr President, I will do everything possible and necessary to meet your expectations. It is true, and I understand this very well, that the space industry as well as all other sectors that are closely connected with it, such as microelectronics and new materials, are, in fact, what you call our country’s development potential. Each job in the space industry automatically creates nine jobs in Russia. This entails a huge responsibility. I would like to repeat that I would do everything in my power to fulfil the task.

Vladimir Putin: We should also examine ways to strengthen the team, so that the industry would be headed by people who know it from the inside and understand how it works. These must be good experts, top scientists and managers. We will discuss this later.
