Pacific Fleet Commander meets his Indian counterpart

Friday, 20 October 2017 06:35

Today, Commander of the Russian Pacific Fleet Admiral Sergei Avakyants and Flag Officer Commanding of Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta held a meeting.

The sides discussed the sea part of the Indra 2017 exercise and the tactical cooperation between the two fleets.

Rear Admiral Dasgupta thanked the Russian colleague for the warm welcome given to the Indian Navy ships in Vladivostok.

At the end of the meeting the Fleet Commanders exchanged memorable gifts.

This year the international exercise will be held jointly under single concept. Instead of Indra-Navy 2016, Avia-Indra 2016 and Indra 2016, one joint exercise is to take place involving Pacific Fleet and Indian Navy ships, troops and military hardware of EMD and Indian Air Force and Army formations.

The opening ceremony will be held on October 20 at the Pacific Fleet training centre.
