Today, a detachment of the Indian Navy warships has arrived in Vladivostok, Pacific Fleet, to take part in the Indra 2017 Russian-Indian international joint exercise that is to take place for the first time.

As the Indian vessels entered the port, they were welcomed with international salute of 21 guns. In return, the flagship of the Indian detachment greeted the Pacific Fleet with artillery salute.

The Indian frigate Satpura and corvette Kadmatt were solemnly welcomed at the 33 berth at Korabelnaya Embankment. Deputy Commander of the Pacific Fleet for Personnel Rear Admiral Anatoly Zelinsky and Flag Officer Commanding of Eastern Fleet Rear Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta gave an opening welcome speech to the attendees.

This year the international exercise will be held jointly under single concept. Instead of Indra-Navy 2016, Avia-Indra 2016 and Indra 2016, one joint exercise is to take place involving Pacific Fleet and Indian Navy ships, troops and military hardware of EMD and Indian Air Force and Army formations.
