Elected representatives of self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics are capable of restoring normal life in south-east of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry deputy chief says
MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Russia urges Kiev to cancel the military operation in the southeast of Ukraine, Russian State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told TASS on Monday, commenting on the final results of the elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR).
“We respect the will expression of the residents of (Ukraine’s) south-east. The elected representatives have got the mandate for the practical efforts aimed at the restoration of normal life in these regions,” he said.
According to him, the elected representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk republiсs “have enough powers to develop a stable and wide-ranging dialogue with Kiev authorities.”
“It’s clear that people have suffered enough over the past six months, got tired of bloodshed and war, they want to live calmly,” the diplomat said. “The elected representatives (of DPR and LPR) are now capable of fulfilling these tasks,” the official said.
“It is quite obvious for us that this work can yield result only on the condition of a dialogue based on mutual respect and equality and Kiev’s refusal from military operations and the notorious "anti-terrorist operation,"” the state secretary said.
“There is one more condition — the commitment to the Minsk agreements on September 5 and 19,” he added.
Karasin said that the coming period will “test exactingly” the Ukrainian sides’ capability to hold dialogue. “I would say the coming period will be an exacting examiner of the Ukrainian conflict sides’ responsibility and capability in terms of developing constructive interaction for the fulfilment of common tasks,” Karasin said.
He said “everybody has the right to its stance.” “But we stress that we are ready together with our international partners to continue to promote the Ukrainian crisis settlement,” he said.
