On the visit of Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Nikolay R.Kudashev to Himachal Pradesh

On 3-5 April, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India H.E. Mr Nikolay R.Kudashev paid a working visit to the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. During his visit, the Ambassador met with Governor of Himachal Pradesh H.E. Mr Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh H.E. Mr Jairam Thakur, member of the Board of Trustees of the International Roerich Memorial Trust Mr Shakti S.Chandel, Chairman of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study Kapil Kapoor, as well as former Chief Minister of the state H.E. Mr Virbhadra Singh.

Their conversations touched upon the issues of further strengthening of interregional cooperation, the importance of broader interaction in infrastructure, agriculture, education and tourism, environmental protection, including within the framework of the Himalayan Research Institute “Urusvati”. It was suggested that sister-cities relations should be established between Himachal Pradesh and one of the Russian regions. 

Special attention was paid to the issues of preservation of the unique heritage of the Roerich family. The parties noted the large contribution of the great Russian artist and thinker to stronger relations between Russia and India and stressed the significance of efficient functioning of the International Roerich Memorial Trust, discussed the plans to transform the Roerich Estate into a cultural center of international standards.
