On January 24, a concert of the Russian rock master and leader of the legendary band Aquarium Boris Grebenschikov took place at the Russian Embassy Club in New Delhi. He has repeatedly performed on this stage, and the hall could barely hold numerous guests willing to hear the famous Russian musician and poet.

The performance was in the format of a guitar recital: Boris Grebenschikov played famous hits of the past as well as new songs, and everyone could ask the musician any question about his life, art and future plans. According to the musician, he has discovered India in 1967, when he first heard the Beatles' single “Within You, Without You”. This song with Indian tunes charmed Boris Grebenschikov and inspired him to learn history, culture and religion of India.

BG shared that for him personally India is inseparably linked with a long-standing friendship late Russian Ambassador to India A.M.Kadakin. Recalling the brilliant Russian diplomat, who passed away on the Republic Day, January 26, 2017, in New Delhi, the musician noted with sincere warmth that “the memory of Alexander Mikhailovich is always in the heart of everyone who was lucky to be acquainted with him”.

The 1,5 hours long concert has inspired the listeners so much, that they asked the musician to play an encore and gave him a standing ovation. On behalf of all Embassy staff members Russian Ambassador to India Nikolay R. Kudashev thanked Boris Grebenschikov for his excellent performance and expressed hope that this tradition of recitals would continue and the musician would always be welcomed in the Russian Embassy.
