Joint Report on Russia-India Relations Released in New Delhi

A discussion on the current state and prospects of Russian-Indian ties, timed to the release of the report "70th Anniversary of Russia-India Diplomatic Relations: New Horizons of Privileged Partnership", jointly prepared by the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) and the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), took place in New Delhi on November 7, 2017.
H.E. Mr Nikolay R.Kudashev, Ambassador of Russia to India, H.E. Mr G.V.Srinivas, Joint Secretary, Eurasia Division, MEA of India, old stagers of the Indian Foreign Service – former Foreign Secretary K.Sibal, former Ambassador of India to Russia P.Shukla – as well as representatives of the Delhi expert community took part in the discussion, which was opened by VIF Director Arvind Gupta. RIAC Director A.V.Kortunov and Mr G.Balasubramanian, DCM of the Embassy of India in Russia, addressed the audience with welcome remarks from Moscow through a videoconference.
The discussion thoroughly covered the key aspects of interaction between Moscow and New Delhi, which recently has been most successful in nuclear power, oil and gas as well as military and military-technical spheres. Noting frequent political contacts at the highest and high levels, the participants stressed the need to increase bilateral trade and mutual investments.
In conclusion of the exchange of views, Ambassador Nikolay Kudashev and other panelists highlighted the importance of such events, which encourage stronger contacts between the expert circles of Russia and India, and answered the questions of journalists that was widely quoted in the Indian national press.
