THE OLEG LUNDSTREM MEMORIAL STATE JAZZ ORCHESTRA IS COMING FOR INDIAN TOUR ON SEPTEMBER 23-26, 2016, TO MARK THE INAUGURATION OF RUSSIAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL IN INDIA.
RECOGNISED BY THE FAMOUS GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS AS THE MOST “LONG PLAYING” JAZZ ORCHESTRA IT WILL GIVE ITS FIRST PERFORMANCE AT RABINDRANATH TAGORE CENTRE, KOLKATA, ON SEPTEMBER 23 AT 6.30 PM.
INDIAN CAPITAL WILL GET A CHANCE TO ENJOY RUSSIAN JAZZ AT THE 6TH DELHI INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL IN NEHRU PARK ON SEPTEMBER 25 AT 6.30 PM.
THE FINAL CONCERT IN INDIA WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE RUSSIAN CENTRE OF SCIENCE AND CULTURE, 24 FEROZESHAH ROAD, ON SEPTEMBER 27 AT 6.30.

Oleg Lundstrem (1916-2005) was a Soviet and Russian jazz composer, conductor of worldwide recognition. Newspapers called this prominent musician and founder of the nation’s first big band “the King of Jazz of the Far East”. Founded in 1934, the eminent orchestra was acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest continuously existing jazz band in the world. It has been performing all over the world including a special concert that marked the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in the UN General Assembly Hall in NYC in 2015.
The Oleg Lundstrem Memorial State Jazz Orchestra took part in the Inauguration ceremony of Year of Russia in India at the Gala Concert at the historical Purana Quila in 2008.
