Mayors of Yessentuki City in Russia and Trissur in India agreed on singing the Twin City agreement

Mayor of Yessentuki Ms. Larisa O.Pisarenko and the Mayor of Trissur in India Mr.Pauloth Paul (I P Paul) agreed up on to sign the agreement on Twin City relations.

Both the Mayors held discusion at Yessuntiki on 24 August. The meeting between the Heads of the two cities was held as part of the Day of Yessentuki celebrations.

A 7-member Indian delegation from Trissur, the Cultural capital of Kerala, is in the resort city of Caucasus on an official visit. The visit of the delegation took place as a result of the initiative being taken by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India to develop regional leval co-operation among the cities in Russia and India. Members of the visiting delegation discussed the points to be included in the agreement on Twin City.

The discusion was held in the presence of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India H.E. Mr. Alexander Kadakin. In his address Mr.Kadakin stressed the necessity of strengthening regional cooperation and also People-to-People Relations." People's Diplomacy is very important in strengthening diplomatic relations among nations. People-to-People relations contribute greatly in strengthening Russian-Indian Relations. I am very happy to witness yet another milestone in Russian-Indian relations. I have no doubt that the twin city agreement will help the people of Yessentuki and Trissur to learn more about each other. I hope this initiative will also help to promote direct business ties between the Southern part of Russia and Southern part of India", Mr.Kadakin said.

In her address Ms. Larisa Pisarenko said that Yessentuki's Twin City relation with Trichur would create a role model for other cities in promoting regional cooperation. " l look forward to visiting Trissur to sign the final agreement on the Twin City Relations. We can co-operate in many fields like trade, education and culture", said Ms. Pisarenko.
The Mayor of Trissur Mr.I.P.Paul said that he was happy to inform the Head of the host city that the Council meeting of the Trissur Corporation had passed a resolution to sign the twin city agreement with Yessentuki. He also invited a delegation from Yessentuki to pay a visit to Trissur.

Chairpersons of various committees of both the cities, Mr.Vitaliy Mikhailenko, Advisor to the administation of the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. Leonid Filimonov, representative of the Ministry of Foireign Affairs of Russia, Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Fedeartion in Trivandrum and Director, Russian Centre of Science and Culture, were also present. Mr. Ratheesh Nair said that The Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum and the Russian Centre of Science & Culture are committed to strengthen the relation between Kerala State and Stavropol Territory. A delegation headed by the Mayor of Kochi visited Pyatigorsk last year tio sign the Twin City agreement.
