Indian College Students Excell in Russian Language

Indian college students, learning Russian language in different universities, displayed their comprehension in Russian language and literature on the second day of the Days of Russian Language, Literature & Culture “The Russian Mosaic”, held at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), on February 20, 2013.

The function was jointly organised by the RCSC, Institute of Russian Language, Centre for Russian Language Teachers’ Training and Delhi higher educational institutions.

Around 100 students from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Institute of Russian Language, RCSC, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Jamia Millia Islamia and Agra University took part in several competitions such as painting, translation, Russian song-singing, essay-writing, dance-master-class, poetry-recital and Olympiads on the Russian language, literature, culture and art.

The students had a rare experience of fun and entertainment of Russian games, and they enjoyed Russian tea with traditional snacks and sweets thereafter.

Certificates and prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions.

A presentation on Higher Education in Russia was carried out under the joint aegis of Russian Centre of International Education and the Centre of Russian Language Teachers’ Training. A documentary film about Peoples’ Friendship University was also screened on the occasion.

This was followed by the screening of the Russian comedy “My Boyfriend is an Angel” for the benefit of the students.
