Days of Rusian Language, Literature & Culture at RCSC in New Delhi

The spirit and enthusiasm of young Indian students to learn Russian language was manifest in the annual two-day Days of Russian Language, Literature & Culture “The Russian Mosaic”, which opened in a festive atmosphere at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) on February19, 2013.

The event was jointly organised by the RCSC, Institute of Russian Language, Centre for Russian Language Teachers’ Training, Delhi Public School Society and Delhi higher educational institutions. While the programme focussed on school children today, the same will continue tomorrow involving students from colleges.

Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, former Rector, Jawaharlal Nehru University, President, INDAPRYAL, and Ms. Renu Mital, Director of D. P. S. Society, attended the function.

Russian language students from D.P.S. Dwarka, D.P.S. Indirapuram, Bluebells International School, Springdales School, Duala Kuan, D.P.S. Noida and D.P.S. Greater Noida took part in the programme. In addition, the event was attended by representatives of schools, which plan to start teaching Russian language, for example, D.P.S. Faridabad. Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden, while being unable to send the team of their students, participated by sending their essays and drawings.

In all, about 120 school students participated in the competitions on the first day. Over 10 teachers from local schools attended the event.

The programme of the festival comprised Olympiads on the Russian language, literature and culture, art and essay competitions, quiz on Russian language, costume competition, dance master-class, traditional painting master-class, song competition, translation competition, and Russian games. Certificates and prizes were distributed to winners of competitions.

The ceremony concluded with tea and Russian snacks. In the afternoon an animation was screened for the benefit of school students.
