At a brief but graceful event held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Delhi, a delegation of Syrian Students Union called upon Russian Ambassador Alexander Kadakin to express their gratitude for the support extended by Russia to Syria at International levels.

Students delegation led by its Vice President Ahmed Mehmood presented a bouquet to Ambassador and thanked Russia on behalf of Syrian people. The delegation was accompanied by Mustafa Dayoob, Second Secretary to the Syrian Consulate in New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion Mustafa Dayoob said that Russia along with China has always supported Syrian people. Ambassador Kadakin said “Russia was, is and will remain a great friend of Syria and the Syrian people.”

Mr Kadakin said that Russia is very much against war and interference into internal affairs of other countries. While drawing attention to what happened after US meddling in internal affairs of Iraq and Afghanistan, he suggested that we should take lessons from history and stop the similar thing happening to Syria. He assured the delegation of continued support of Russia and said “that is why we categorically support the effort of Syrian President and we have been supporting peaceful resolution of the conflict and of course no interference from outside.”

At present there are more than 100 Syrian students studying in India in technical, medical, literature & commerce streams in various Universities of Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai.
