Anton Chekhov’s play “The Proposal” staged in Trivandrum

Russia’s most popular dramatist Anton Chekhov’s The Proposal was staged at the Hassan Marakkar Theatre on October 10, 2012 under the auspices of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Trivandrum.

Co-ordinator of the Chekhov Drama Club at the Russian Centre Dr.Raja Warier directed the drama and the members of the Club Dr.Ambikatmajan Nair, Sreekala Suresh and Sajeendran played the major roles.

The drama performance was organised in memory of the famous poet Changampuzha Krishna Pillai who translated Chekhov’s The Proposal from Russian into Malayalam in 1948.

More than 200 people assembled to witness the drama. The program was organised in association with Kerala Art Lovers’ Association (KALA).
