Kerala delegation in Pyatigorsk and Essentuki to Discuss Twin-Cities’ Agreements

Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Trivandrum and the Director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Trivandrum, joined the delegation from the City Corporation of Kochi, led by the Mayor, Tony Chammani, that visited Pyatigorsk in the end of June.

The team visited Pyatigorsk to have a preliminary discussion with  the City Administration before signing the Twin - City Agreement.

Besides the Mayor, Mr.Chammani, the Standing Council Chairmen Mr.Vinod, Mr.Thyagarajan and Mr.Asharaf, and the Council Member from Opposition, Mr.Anilkumar, visited Pyatigorsk. They held a meeting with the Mayor of Pyatigorsk, Mr.Lev Travnev. Addressing the visiting delegation, Mr.Travnev said that health care, health tourism and education could be identified as major areas of co-operation. Both the Mayors exchanged the flags of Russia and India and the flags of Pyatigorsk and Kochi.

The delegation also held discussion with the Chairperson of the City Council (Duma) of Pyatigorsk, Ms. Ludmila Pokhilko. Both the Mayor and Chairperson of Duma accepted the invitation of the Mayor of Kochi and agreed to visit Kochi soon to sign the Twin- City Agreement.

Mr. Ratheesh C. Nair also met the first Vice-Mayor of Essenthuki City, Mr.Vladimir Pradkin, and officially handed over the letter from the Mayor of Trichur, Mr. Ipe Paul. The Vice Mayor said that a delegation led by the Mayor would visit Trichur in November to have the preliminary meeting on Twin- City Agreement. He also promised the Honorary Consul to send a team of businessmen, artist and Ensemble if the Russian Cultural Centre would organise DAYS OF ESSENTUKI IN KERALA. Mr.Vitaliy I. Mikhailenko, Advisor to the Chief of Administration of the Russian President, initiated the discussion.

The visit was part of fulfilling the idea of H.E. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India, Mr. Alexander M.Kadakin, to establish Twin- City relations among cities in Russia and India.
