Russian National Day Marked in Trivandrum

The Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation together with the Russian Cultural Centre in Trivandrum organised a function to mark the Russian National Day.

Dignitaries such as the former Minister for State for External Affairs and former Under Secretary-General of the United Nations, Dr.Sashi Tharoor, M.P.; Members of Parliament, Mr. Sampath, Mr.K.N. Balagopal; Chief of Southern Air Command, Air Marshal S.P.Singh; Vice – President of Russian Nuclear Power Corporation ATOMSTROY EXPORT, Mr.V.V.Saitiev; Mayor of Trivandrum, Adv. K. Chandrika; First Secretary of the Russian Embassy, Mr. Sergey Belousko;

Managing Director Brah Mos – Trivandrum-- Rear Admiral Zacharia; Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Kerala, Mr.Mohanty; Commander-in-chief, Army (Kerala), Brig. Pradeep Narayan; Former Ministers of Kerala, Mr. M.A. Baby, Mr. Binoy Viswam, Writers, Poets, Film-makers, Government Secretaries, Police Officers, Social activists, media personalities, Deputy Head of the Russian Scientists at Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project, Mr.Alexander Kvasha, and others participated in the celebrations.

Eventhough India has strategic partnership with several countries, Russia is the only time-tested partner of India, said Dr. Sashi Tharoor. Mr. Sergey Belousko, Representative of the Russian Embassy in Newe Delhi, said that Russia and India have set a model by co-operating not only in defence and commerce but also in joint research and manufacture. The best examples of these are the Brah Mos missile and the fifth generation aircraft.

A documentary film featuring "65 Years of Russian-Indian diplomatic Ties" was screened on the occasion. News papers like The Hindu,The  Indian Express, The Times of India, Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhumi, Kerala Kaumudi, Madhyamam, Janayugam, and others carried the reports on the event.
