Music Recital by Mergen Mongush and Olga Titaeva at RCSC

The Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi presented a Music Recital by Mergen Mongush (Trumpet) and Olga Titaeva (Piano) on May 22, 2012. The elite gathering was overwhelmed by the splendid performance of these two professional artists, who have been giving programmes at the RCSC during the past few years.

The artists presented compositions by Marcello, Caccini, Schubert, and some Russian composers, including Alexander Gedike and Sergei Rachmaninov. The concert covered a broad gamut of compositions by 17th century composers from the period of Baroque to the contemporary phase.

Mr. Krishnan Raghunath, former Foreign Secretary, Government of India, former Indian Ambassador to Russia;  Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, President, INDAPRYAL, former Rector of JNU;  Major Dalbir Singh, Secretary, All-India Congress Committee;  Mr. Sergey Karmalito, Senior Counsellor, Embassy of the Russian Federation in India;  and Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC; attended the colourful event.

Mergen Mongush, who finished the music school attached to the Conservatory named after Mikhail Glinka in Novosibirk, later completed a course in the music college in the Kyzyl City, Republic of Tyva, Russia, in the speciality of brass instruments. He continued studies and graduated from the East Siberian State Academy of Culture and Arts in the speciality of “Head of Jazz and Symphonic Orchestras”’, and worked as a solo performer of the symphony orchestra at the State Philharmonic Hall of the Republic of Tyva. Living in India since 2009, Mergen Mongush is very fond of Indian films, particularly Bollywood movies.

Olga Titaeva, who started learning piano at the age of six, completed her studies in a music school and music college, and later graduated from the Conservatory named after Glazunov in Petrozavodsk City, where she also completed her post-graduate studies in music. She is a Laureate of International Contests, and before arrival in India, she used to teach piano at a music school for five years and a music college for seven years in Russia. Olga Titaeva highly appreciates Indian classical music, and songs from old Hindi movies.
