Exhibition оf Graphic Works by the Kazakh Artist Leyla Mahat

An Exhibition of Graphic Works by Ms. Leyla Mahat, jointly organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in India and Contemporary Art Centre “KULANSHI” (Astana, Kazakhstan), was inaugurated at a colourful ceremony at the RCSC, New Delhi, on March 6, 2012.

Ms. Leyla Mahat is a Honoured Member of the Academy of Art, Prague, Czech Republic, Laureate of the European Art Union, Associate Professor, Faculty of Painting & Sculpture and Stage Design, Kazakh National University of Arts, Professor of the Kazakh-Russian University, Chair of Design, Astana, Kazakhstan, Winner of the Medal of Contribution to the Art in the name of Franz Kafka, Prague, Czech Republic. She has already organized exhibitions in Kazakhstan, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, Moldova, Great Britain, Netherlands, USA, Italy, France, Russia, China and India.

Important dignitaries who made their gracious presence at the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition were H. E. Mr. Doulat Kuanyshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India, H.E. Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Dr. Rakesh Shankar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Galgotias University, Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC, Ms. Nerupama Y. Modwel, Director, Intangible Cultural Heritage, and others. On the opening day, the exhibition was visited by the Ambassadors of Kirghizstan, Turkmenistan, Tadjikistan, Bhutan to India, senior diplomats from Belarus and Azerbaidjan as well as Indian dignitaries and government officials.

H.E. Mr. Doulat Kuanyshev touching upon the cultural relations between his country and India laid stress on promoting cultural exchanges and interactions keeping in view to improving bilateral relations. He acknowledged the encouragement and support provided by the Head of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in displaying the exhibition.

Ms. Leyla Mahat dwelt upon the inspiration drawn in her career as an artist and her experience in the field of graphic art. She thanked the organizers of the exhibition which enabled her to have large exposure.
