Photo Exhibition on Valentina Tereshkova at RCSC

A Photo Exhibition “Born to Fly: from Dreams to the Skies”, dedicated to the 75th Birth Anniversary of the World’s First Woman-Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova was opened at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture on March 6, 2012.

On the inaugural day, the exhibition was visited by the Ambassadors of Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Turkmenistan, Tadjikistan, Bhutan to India, senior diplomats from Belarus and Azerbaidjan as well as Indian dignitaries and government officials.

The exhibition depicting 60 photos on different facets of Valentina Tereshhova’s life, her landmark space odyssey and brilliant career is apt to be an inspiring factor for those who aspire to make a mark in space science as well as for millions of people around the world. The highlight of the exhibition is the photos recalling her nostalgic moments with India and its leaders.

The participants at the inaugural ceremony comprised Air Marshal P.V.Athawale, Chief Controller, Defence Research and Development Organization Dr. K.D.Nayak, Director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Ms. Nerupama Y. Modwel, Indian Ambassador to Kazankhstan H.E. Mr. Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dr. Rakesh Shankar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Galgotias University, and others.
