RCSC Marks 64th Anniversaryof Indian Independence

     The 64th Anniversary of Indian Independence was marked at a colourful function, jointly organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs and India-Russia Friendship Society on August 12, 2011.

The official part of the function was followed by a Cultural Programme presented by the students of the School of Russian Classical Ballet, D.P.S. Dwarka and Bharatanatyam Dance Group guided by the renowned artist Ms. Padma Sampat Kumaran.

Congratulating the organizers of the function, Mr. Harish Rawat, Minister of State for Agriculture, Food Processing Industry and Parliamentary Affairs, described Russia as a very special friend of India with which our country has decades-long relations, tested by time.

Hailing the sincere initiative taken by the RCSC, the Guest of Honour, Mr. Jai Prakash Agarwal, President, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, said that it is a matter of pride to take part in the anniversary celebration of India’s Independence at the Cultural Centre of Russia which is a genuine friend of India. He recalled the supreme sacrifice made by our great leaders to liberate the country from the colonial rule.

Earlier welcoming an elite gathering, Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC, noted that India has a pride of place in the minds and hearts of the people of Russia, who feel proud of the remarkable achievements made by the people of India in different walks of life ever since the advent of independence. There is a national consensus in India on the need for a strong and stable relationship with Russia, and a similar consensus exists in Russia on the close and friendly ties with India, he said. He also made special reference to the Seminar held to mark the 40th Anniversary of the 1971 Indo-Soviet Treaty of Peace, Friendship and Cooperation on August 9, 2011 at RCSC, which gave a clarion call to keep its momentum and spirit alive for ever.

After the address by distinguished guests, Integration Awards, instituted by India-Russia Friendship Society and SARC were distributed to Mr. Harish Rawat, Minister of State for Agriculture, Food Processing Industry and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director, RCSC, Mrs. Purnima Anand, General Secretary, International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs, Ms. Galina Lyakhova, Ballet Teacher, RCSC, Ms. Monika Sharma, Russian Language Teacher, D.P.S. Dwarka, and others.
