A three-day cultural extravaganza, entitled "Rhythm of the World", organized by the National Educational Research & Development Programme (NERDP), was held under the banner "Bharatiya Lok Sanskriti Utsav" at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC), New Delhi, on July 21, 22 and 23, 2011.
The programme was organized to promote folk dances and folk songs across the globe. From India, folk groups from Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Orissa took part, while from overseas Malaysia, Israel and Sri Lanka were represented by some folk groups, adding the professional excellence to this three-day exuberance of cultural exposition. The programme also included seminars and inter-active sessions by eminent personalities in the fields of creativity, democracy, sociology, art and culture, and literature.
The Russian National Flag found an important place on the stage among the flags of foreign countries participating in the programme. Dr. Dmitry Chelyshev, Counsellor (Media & Culture), Embassy of the Russian Federation in India, and Ms. Yelena S. Shtapkina, Deputy Director (Culture & Information), RCSC, attended the function.
