National Day Celebration

       The Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in Thiruvananthapuram and the Russian Cultural Centre celebrated the National Day of the Russian Federation on 12 June, 2011 at the Vivanta by Taj, Trivandrum.

The function began with the National Anthem of the Republic of India and the Russian Federation. The Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation Ratheesh Nair welcomed the guests. Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Mrs.Chandrika and the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation Mr.Denis E.Alipov addressed the gathering. Both the Mayor and the Minister counselor underlined that the relationship between Russia and India remains unchanged irrespective of the geo-political changes.

The official meeting was followed by the music concert by Vladimir Bultukin and Peter Melentiev.This 40 minutes musical programme was the highlight of the evening. They sang both Russian classical and folk song.

VIPs of the state of Kerala attended the programme. These included the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, former Minister of State (External Affairs) Government of India who was the under Secretary General of the United Nations Mr.Sasi Tharoor, Former Minister of state for defence, Government of India Mr.O.Rajagopal,Member of Parliament Mr.A.Sabath, Additional Chief Secretary of Kerala Mr.Tom Jose IAS, Director General of Police Mr.Jacob Punnoose IPS, Additional Director General of Police Mr. Sankar Reddy IAS, Pricipal Secretary to the Government Dr. V.Venu IAS, Bishop of the  Malankara Orthodox Church His Grace Dr.Gabriel Mar Gregorious, Members of Legislative Assembly, senior bureaucrats, Deputy Head of Atomstroy Export at Koodankulam Mr.Alexander Kvasha, writers like Puthusseri Ramachandran and Prof.D.Vinayachandran, senior journalists, representatives of Chamber of Commerce and CII etc.
