Students of Russian Classical Ballet Excel at Kamani Students from the School of Russian Classical Ballet under the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, showed their worth in a colourful and spectacular Ballet Show "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Annual Day of the Ballet School at Kamani Auditorium in the Capital on April 29, 2011.
A fairly large elite gathering, comprising parents of the students, and people from all walks of life gave a standing ovation with repeated applause in a sign of unreserved support and encouragement to the excellent performance of the budding artists. Mr. Fyodor A. Rozovskiy, Director, Russian Centre of Science and Culture, was present at the Annual Day celebration of the Russian School of Classical Ballet. In short, apart from the dedication and discipline showed by the students, it was mainly thanks to the painstaking efforts and total commitment of the Teacher Ms. Galina Lyakhova that deserved to be highly appreciated and recognized.
About 150 students of nine nationalities, including India and Russia, in the age group 5-17 were part and parcel of the amazing show, the classical ballet version of Shakespeare's comedy "Midsummer Night's Dream". In all, the young students gave the audience an opportunity to become part of the enchanting, beautiful and graceful world of Russian ballet in both traditional and modern music choreographed by Ms. Galina Lyakhova, the brain and guiding spirit behind the School of Russian Classical Ballet since 2000.
Tara Devi Roy and Zingrin Muivah, who graduated after successfully passing out of 7 classes from the Ballet School, took the lead roles in the show along with Sasha Shetty, Nandini and Gunangi, and five male characters, who are students of the Institute of Russian Language, RCSC. Ms. Natalya Rozovskaya gave away the prizes for the best performers.
