Briefing by Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria (June 2, 2018)

The Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides continues working on peaceful settlement of the conflict and stabilization of humanitarian situation in the Syrian Arab Republic.


Despite the ceasefire regime being established throughout the country, illegal armed formations breaches ceasefire regime in the provinces of Latakia and Daraa.


Situation in the Eastern Ghouta is being stabilized; people are returning to peaceful life.


Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides have been monitoring reconstruction process in the settlement of Jisreyn. People are now able to buy items of the bare necessities. Power supply system has been recovered. Two schools and water supply station are under overhaul now. Local authorities jointly with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent organize delivery of drinking water.


Over the last 24 hours, the Syrian engineers have checked 18 buildings to defuse four mines, eight projectiles and 18 improvised explosive devices.


Due to improving humanitarian situation, 67,446 people have returned home in the Eastern Ghouta from refugee and IDP camps.


Measures are being taken to improve humanitarian situation in the Mukhayam al-Yarmouk district.


Volunteers are clearing residential quarters of Yalda, Babilla, and Beit Sahm from rubbles and trash.


The Syrian security forces are working to grant amnesty to former members of illegal armed formations who decided to return to peaceful life. In total, 1,200 people have already passed this procedure.


Measures are being taken by Syrian government jointly with the Russian side to stabilize post-conflict situation in the provinces of Homs and Hama.


Russian military police organizes observation posts in the settlements of al-Rastan,  Kafer-Laha, Talbiseh,  Zaafarana, Kharet-Tukman and Qasiri-Qarabesi.


The Russian Centre for Reconciliation is above all focused to improve humanitarian situation, provide medical aid to the people in need and meet priority needs of people in the Syrian Arab Republic.


Over the last 24 hours, the Russian Centre carried out charitable actions in the Asad  and the Aleppo University Infirmary. At the end of the Ramadan fasting day, the Russian servicemen deployed field kitchens to provide people with hot meals; children received also gifts.


Russian military medics have provided medical assistance to more than 131 people, including 72 children.


Recovering of social infrastructure and establishment of peaceful life enables people to return back to their homes.


Over the past day, 226 people have returned to Homs province, and 132 people – to the Eastern Ghouta.


Measures taken by Russia, Turkey and Iran stabilize situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone; civilians return back to their homes in Aleppo province. Over the past day, 379 people with private properties have passed through the Tal-Sultan – Abu al-Duhur humanitarian corridor. Since May 31, in total 805 people and 179 pieces of equipment have passed through the humanitarian corridor.
